Some of you might know Lil Yacthy a US rapper and singer who is best known for hit song "Broccoli" with DRAM. He calls his his style "Bubblegum Trap."
Rolling Stone
described his music as "catchy, intentionally dinky-sounding tunes
packed with off-color boasts delivered in a proudly amateurish
singsong."
Him kinda on a different level musically, what we don't get is why him call himself Lil Yacthy he obviously is a big ass man.
Anyway we find he is channeling his dancehall roots to carry his music to the next level. Check this new song "Worry No More" it has a nice pop/ dancehall vibe to it featuring Santigold and produced by 1/3 of Major Lazer, Diplo who is already a well established fan and producer of dancehall crossover.....MAAAAD mi tell unuh

New Music, the Good, Bad and ... You decide?
New visuals this week the Mad Music continues to be dynamic. We found these 3 new music visuals keeping it Dancehall and Hype. Not sure any of these are going to be BIG hits but give us your feedback.
1st up Vybz Kartel advocate, supporter and friend Busta" Bus a Bus" Rhymes finally lands a colab with Vybz and Torey Lanez. This one has a nice beat, but the numerous stops and starts to the video breaks the flow. Although there are cameos from Beenie Man, Junior Reid, Foota Hype Sizzla and a bag of Jamaican artists the dialogue and over use of "patois" doesn't come across at all as natural.
Then there is this new one from Popcaan and Kyla. Fo rthose who dont know Kyla, is a British house music singer in the UK funky subgenre. She is best known for her song "Do You Mind" which became one of the most successful charting UK funky songs and was later featured on Drake's 2016 international hit "One Dance".
Finally we have the two "Jamericans" who are holding on to their Jamaica roots to try and get a further foothold in the hip-pop market. Sean Kingston who from day one embraced his heritage in his stage name and then Safaree previously known as Niki Minaj's Hypeman but now carving a name for himself as a rapper and regular staple in the dancehall.

Should have been Popcaan in this Video
You are probably bouncing to this happy pop tune "Should have been Me" by British Producer Naughty Boy featuring Kyla and Jamaica's own Popcaan.
This horn infused tune has Popcaan taking a leaf from Sean Paul's book and jumping on the collab train and finding success particular in the British and European Market. Popcaan di Unruly Boss with jus a a few bars adds a winning flavour to a big chune.
The video for this one is very cinematic and well shot in Kampala, Uganada but we a pree it and can't understand how this was green lighted. the video has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the song.
The song is all about love and relationships only relationship we see is this is a new found passion for skateboarding.
Pretty video, nice imagery but nothing to do with the reality . Check Poppy's lyrics " Mi guess that a so di ting go , a brand new girl me a swing to ......" Wi nuh see how dat factor in the video
The song SHOT still but they could a fly down to Jamaica we could a give dem some nice Jamaican girls to feature up in di video
Next time link wi fas, wi have ideas a flow like Dunns River.............Maaaad

Dancehall Fusion Up Up UP
LOVE the Dancehall fusion vibes in the air right now! Dancehall is Up Up Up
Fresh in the vibe of Rhianna and Drake"Work Work Work" comes this hit from AlunaGeorge featuring Popcaan "I'm in Control".AlunaGeorge are an English electronic music duo from London, consisting of Aluna Francis (vocals) and George Reid (production)
One thing about England they have a maaaad appetite and respect for Dancehall music and it is manifested again in this hit song. We spoke about just last week Sigala "Say you Do"and now this song set up as Number 4 on the BBC R1 Dance Charts with a bullet.
The video initially looked like Jamaica (especially the intro instrumental) but most Jamaicans having seen the first few frames would have known it wasn't Jamaica. Still Caribbean and still maaad representing.
Interesting how Jamaican patios curse words get away when people have no idea whats being said ;-)
See some of the comments online:
Only draw back no Unruly up in the video
Part of this new style of videos which I call "Keeping it Real" and "In the Streets" it reminds me of a similar sound and video that Major Lazer did for Get Free..MAAAD ENERGY

Best of Mildew Riddim
Yes we thought we would start a new feature today which is picking out the songs on riddim that we think is the star of the show, the tune that shaat on popular dancehall riddims. As some of you are aware dancehall music is very prolific with 5-10 new riddims every week with some riddims have as many as 15 - 20 tracks. not all can be hits so we will cut through the trash and bring you the stand outs.
Anyways today we showcase Popcaan, the master of the catchy hook, the king of the memorable lines and melody. Popcaan, Mr Unruly himself has come a long way from his protege days on Vybz Kartels "Clarks" but from even then his sing song melody added a flavour to the tune. Fast forward 5 years and he again is on top of tings on the Mildew Riddim released April 2015. Yaaooooooooow...Maaaaad
NSFW
Waaaaay Up, this one gone, inspired obviously from Chi Ching's hit song Way Up..Stay Up and again biging up Andrew Blacks, CEO of UIM Records (currently incarcerated facing lotto scam charges). this again is another hit from the ubiquitous UIM records.
Other stand out on the Mildew Riddim is Chris Martin Under the Influence
