We recently came across this mad moment in music and thought we would share it with you guys. It features Flo Rida, somehow he continues to find the formula for musical success, good beats, fast raps, catchy choruses and using simple sample to makes highly infectious dance songs
Coming off his soon to be released album,"Let it Flo" is note worthy on two fronts, apart from the songs potential hit, the video itself featuring Keith Apicary (a character created by comedian Nathan Bennett) is very funny.
If observed carefully you will notice that this guy can actually dance despite the goofiness. If you want more of Keith Apicary check out his show "Talking Classics" on on the website, "screwattack.com" where he does a mockumentary show on old school video games.
This video is maaaad.
To see the mad magic behind the music, check out the original sample taken from the 1974 hit by Freddie King "Let the Good Times Roll"
Considered one of the top artists in the world Skrillex is the stage name of Sonny John Moore who performs to tens of thousands at concerts worldwide however Skrillex, is not a singer, rapper or even a dancer, he is a super producer who is known in the dance world as the wiz kid, specializing in hard house, electronic dance music and dub step, he is a favourite on dance floors everywhere.
Many consider Skrillex as responsible
for bringing the dub step genre to the mainstream music community this
year.
In November 2011, he was nominated for a total of 5 Grammy Awards including Best New Artist and won three: "Best Dance/Electronica Album," "Best Dance Recording," and "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical". In December 2011, he was named MTV's Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year.
We feature him because he his obviously influenced by reggae and dance hall music (check the hook on this song). A lot of his melodies and samples often feature Jamaican slang even his last Grammy Award winning album was titled Bangarang (obviously an ode to past Prime Minister Bruce Golding).
I love this song it is catchy but what weird visuals, these dance people are krazy, not really what I would expect from the vocals but with dance music it looks like anything goes, the hook...."Are you ready for the Ruffneck Bass" without a doubt is maaaahd.
Skrillex has gone even further into his experimentation with reggae with the recent compilation with Damion Junior Gong Marley called "Make it Bun Dem"
We are not really feeling this one but if you are into hardcore dub step you might catch a vibe off it.
We might have our differences with Rihanna on her fashion and personal
life but we can't fault her on some of her music and also that she does
dig into her Caribbean roots despite her mufti-platinum worldwide
crossover success.
Brand new is her new video for "Where have you Been" complete with Willy Bounce moves incorporated
Great visuals with the Bajan beauty looking good and improving everyday on her
dancing skills still not at the Beyonce level but she does
know how to market her music.
Can't fault you on this one Rhi Rhi...it is maaaaahd on point.
If you have any doubts on the Dancehall influence check out this Behind the Scenes feature
Notice how the song follows the same club-beat formula as "We Found Love",
Bwoy Bogle I bet you never know the music would gone so far....maaaaad
