Japan Attacks Dancehall

The Japanese are taking over dancehall yes its true they say imitation is the highest form of flattery, then in this case it must mean Maximum Respect. Over the last 10 years in Jamaica there has been an  emergence of Japanese embracing the dance hall flavour. At any dance you throughout  the week you will find "dancehall tourists", who don't just come for a 3 or 4 day vacation but most times are here for a "staycation" to fully immerse themselves in everything Reggae and Dancehall and everything  Jamaican and then its back to Osaka or Tokyo to show off their valuable new moves, Jamaican patios and impressions.

Indeed the dancehall culture has fully embraced our Japanese colleagues as  you will find them in the every dance in the deepest of communities and they are embraced as one of our own. Nuh man nuh trouble dem from dem name Japanese them is str8 fambily...

Likewise Jamaican performers enjoy almost god like admiration in land of the rising sun, Mr Vegas, TOK and Voice Mail can attest to the kind of response they received when on one of their numerous tours there.

Yes believe or not the Japanese are taking it to them, over the past 3 years Japanese dance groups have been entering the World Reggae Dance contest  put on the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) and in 2013 they won, dem yuth dere maaaad... so people get familiar with  ATTACK DEM and see for yourself how to take dancehall dancing to the next level.
So the cultural export to the most unlikeliest of nations continues. I will write another post about why I think the music and dance has found fertile soil in Japan but for now pree dis eye opening documentary "Dancehall in Japan" featuring Junko the 1st Dancehall Queen winner and Mighty Crown the #1 Dancehall sound in Japan ....maaaad.

Bwoy dis ya dancehall music maaaad powerful.
(See if you catch the red stripe earing)

As a addded bonus hereis ATTACKK DEM again
