This song has Jamaica stamped all over it

If you haven't heard this song check out this pop reggae fusion song "Locked Away" by R City  featuring Adam Levine. R.City or Rock City a reggae pop duo out of US Virgin Islands, comprising  of brothers Theron and Timothy Thomas.  They have found Adam to sing the hook on this insanely mad romantic pop tune. The video is noteworthy for its ode to Jamaican music.

For starters it features Adam Levine of Maroon 5 a self-professed lover of reggae music. This song should be the duet he does with Tessane Chin. With her links with Adam and her music stylings I don't understand why this hasn't happened yet, note to Tessane make the link, this is the type of chune you need to cross over with.

Secondly the video features the stunning Chantel Davis, ex Miss Jamaica finalist and model based out of Florida check her out on instagram  @chantel.davis

Plus the inescapable drum pattern and the DJ verse, the club scene speaks for itself ....maaaaad

You may also it also features the sample of the melody from the popular Captain & Tennille hit "Do That To Me One More Time".

The song is currently  number 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100, along with OMI break out hit single Cheerleader it has been a good year so far for Caribbean infused music.

 R. City's debut album "What Dreams Are Made Of", available October 9th.maaaad

Sim Simma still a hit..20 years strong

Sim Simma also known as Who am I the girls dem sugar, a cross over hit of the late nineties that became this timeless hit world wide continues its influence on the music world. Almost 20 years old, released in 1997 it adds fruit to the adage good music has no age. Probably known more by the Bennie Man title , the true name of the riddim is the Playground riddim  produced by multi talented producer/musician Jeremy Harding for his 2 Hard Record label, during its early years it  also spawned hits for a then emerging Sean Paul ( Infiltrate) and Mr. Vegas ( Nike Air )

Those of you who remember it was somewhat controversial at the time  because of the verse . Pass me the keys to the trucks ( a copy of Missy Elliot's the Rain/ Beep Beep  hot tune at the time)  how could I make love to a fella ....in a rush which was interpreted as Bennie Man suggesting making love to a fella in a rush........ Obviously not Bennie Man's intention but you know people always looking for excitement

Pree the original

But  true to the original its  thick bass line that made it the perennial hit in 2015 it has been  used for a new generation...maaaaad

Firstly you might have picked it up in this USVI maad hot jam from Rock City " I'm That Nigga" NSFW

Then more recently in the UK rappers Krept & Konan freak of the week ft. Jeremih

The song entered the UK Singles Chart at number seven, making it the duo's first top 10 single. Plus there is a you tube remix of the same chune featuring Popcaan + Beenie Man.

Maaaaaaaaaaad props to Jeremy the tune still a gwaaan  large
