But in all the tributes to his musical legacy there is one song that most may have forgotten, yet it may be the biggest and most successful song he ever wrote and sung. Can you guess?
Yes it is Electric Boogie which inspired the Electric Slide Dance. It is now known more popularly by the cover version done by his good friend Marcia Griffiths (then a part of the I-Threes). The original was recorded in 1976 well before its time.
But it was re recorded by Marcia Griffiths in 1983, but it was really when the song was remixed in 1990 and featured on Griffiths album Carousel that it truly shaat and became an international hit. Along with the accompanying Electric slide line dance it then built up to the musical juggernaut it is today.
A staple at any wedding, block party or good old family reunion, this song never fails to draw people to the dance floor. Maaad
